Important Information for High Holiday Services

Please bring canned and non perishable food items for donation

All holiday services will be held at: First Congregational Church (FCC), 900 High St., Santa Cruz

In consideration of people with allergies or asthma, please do not wear perfume or strong scents.

Ritual practices - Dressing & Fasting during Yom Kippur:
You are invited to join us in wearing white and wearing a tallit (prayer shawl) for Yom Kippur services. To return to simplicity, some do not wear leather, makeup or jewelry (especially gold, as in the golden calf). For those who are not fasting on Yom Kippur, please be discreet if eating on site, in order to respect and support those who are fasting.

Food: Please bring vegetarian/vegan items to the potluck on Rosh Hashana and for break-the-fast on Yom Kippur. Dishes brought in the morning may be placed in the refrigerator.

Volunteer Opportunities: It takes a community to create a meaningful High Holyday experience. We are appreciative of your assistance whether it be for 30 minutes or 3 hours! To volunteer in ANY WAY, please contact Leslie O'Malley at
408 205-7976 or rabbiasst[at]gmail[dot]com or Akindele at 331-7867.
